The Story Behind Sound Base Education
Sound Base Education was founded by Cathy Gleeson, a primary teacher with over 31 years of experience across early, middle, and upper primary classrooms. Cathy has held roles as a Literacy Leader and Learning Specialist, with a strong focus on structured literacy, evidence-based teaching practices, and reading intervention.
Over the past nine years, her work has centred around the science of reading and learning, supported by extensive professional development including the completion of LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling), Orton-Gillingham training, and the intensive Teaching Students with Dyslexia Tier 3 Intervention course. Cathy's professional pathway reflects a deep commitment to improving literacy outcomes for all students.
Sound Base Education was established to source and provide educators with access to quality, practical, classroom ready resources that support explicit phonics instruction in the first years of school, and reduce educator workload in real education settings.
